Colors of the Desert

"Colors of the Desert" is a hands-on workshop rooted in place, pigment, and process. We will begin by exploring responsible foraging of desert botanicals and blooms, learning how color lives in the land around us. Then we will learn how to transform gathered materials into hand-made watercolor pigments and paints. Finally, we will bring them to life on paper with a short lesson on watercoloring. Come slow down, get your hands earthy, and explore, experiment, and enjoy what nature has hidden in the desert landscape. No prior art experience needed, just curiosity and a love of nature and color. Friday, April 10th, 9:00am to 12:00pm, Meet at the Art Building (AB 122). Note: Please wear comfortable walking shoes as we will be walking around campus and clothes that you are not concerned with getting potentially stained.
