One of the major issues facing community colleges in the United States is the large number of students who “stop-out” - which means they withdraw from enrollment at a college temporarily. SCC students typically stop-out for a variety of reasons, including a lack of financial resources, mental or physical health crisis, family concerns, or employment obligations. Students who stop-out normally intend to return to college to finish their education. At SCC, our staff knows that the barriers that students face can feel overwhelming in the moment. Students typically have not chosen to abandon their education entirely.
Your gift will help SCC offer a pathway back to school - The SCC Back to School Award may provide the needed impetus to attract these students back to college to complete their education and improve their lives.
